My daughter Marilee Seamans passed away April 3 2012 from Valley Fever which had been misdiagnosed for over 3 months. We have lived up here in Bakersfield for 5 years but was not aware of this painful disease that is so prevalent in this area. Why isn't more information out there and why aren't the Drs. & hospital up here more informed. She was at her Primary care DR. Urgent care Drs, and never tested until they operated on her sinus cavity for so-called tumor and found Valley Fever there and in her Medulla of her brain that was picked up by an MRI & called tumors. Also 4 trips to emergency hospital. Treated with antibiotics sent home twice. She had all the symptoms but no one would listen and we had no idea. REST IN PEACE my darling daughter Born May 6 1955 Passed April 3 2012.

I have a 4 year old minature schnauzer with valley fever. I adopted here one year ago. At the time I did not know she had valley fever or actually what it was, I had just moved to Arizona the previous November, and this was January. She has been on medication for a year now and her titer count is still 32, I am hoping she gets better, and can get the titter count down. But we lover her and are doing everthing we can for her. It sure helps to hear about new things I can or should do for her.

Thank you

I am trying to gather information reguarding Valley FEVER. There is a state prison, Pleasant Valley State Prison, where valley fever is prominent. Healthy inmates are being sent there, only to catch valley fever. My understanding is this illness never goes away. Why is this institution still being used? Did the government know thid virus was in the soil when they built in 1994? If so, what was the reason to continue building? Why is the CDCR still sending inmates there? What can be done to get rid of the virus there? Inmates are people too! What are we doing to stop this inhumane practice of sending healthy people there only to become sick with something they can never be rid of!?
